Sparkling TeaSecco made from dealcoholized Chardonnay and plum wine with hibiscus tea – floral, delicate, and long.

Jörg Geiger Teasecco Rosé non-alcoholic is a sparkling TeaSecco from the Jörg Geiger manufactory in Schlat on the Swabian Alb: dealcoholized Chardonnay and plum wine with hibiscus, black, green, silver needle, and rooibos tea, apple and pear juice from Swabian meadow orchards, peach, and ginger, 0.0% vol, 750 ml. Not a fruit tea, not a rosé wine – a meal companion with tea as its backbone.

<!--nl--

Teasecco Rosé by Jörg Geiger belongs to the manufactory's own TeaSecco line. Here, tea provides a significant portion of the structure, together with dealcoholized wine. The base is dealcoholized wine, accounting for a good half of the bottle. This consists partly of Chardonnay and partly of plum wine. Hibiscus tea provides color and floral scent, while the remaining teas contribute tartness and depth. Juices, herbs, blossoms, spices, and carbonation round it out. A long evening with friends, grilled vegetables, lentil salad, and hummus on the table: a pink, sparkling glass that goes along with everything until the end.

Taste

The nose reveals floral aromas of hibiscus and tart notes of rooibos tea. In between lie deeply fruity nuances of plum, which elegantly round off the bouquet. On the palate, it is elegant and delicate. Sweetness and acidity play subtly with one another; neither side pushes to the forefront. The finish is long, with a fruity aftertaste.

The plum provides the dark fruit, the Chardonnay the clear wine structure. The five tea varieties add tartness and structure, while peach and ginger round off the fruit. The result is a rosé that is more reminiscent of a meal companion than a soft drink.

Usage

Drink it well chilled at 7 to 8 °C from a champagne flute. The manufactory recommends it with modern vegetable and Levantine cuisine: grilled vegetables, eggplant, beetroot, and lentils. It pairs very well with poultry, duck, or veal, also with fruity or slightly spicy components. Mild oriental spices, couscous, bulgur, and mushroom dishes are also good partners.

A baking tray with eggplant, beetroot, and za'atar, served with yogurt and flatbread, makes for an uncomplicated meal for guests. A duck breast with plums directly picks up on the fruit in the glass. And solo, Jörg Geiger sees it as an elegant companion for long evenings and conversations. The dealcoholized wine contains sulfites.

Our tip: For the duck breast, sauté a few halved plums in the pan and season them with a pinch of cinnamon. The plum connects the plate and the glass.

Origin

This pink TeaSecco comes from the Jörg Geiger manufactory in Schlat at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Jörg Geiger is a trained chef and took over his parents' inn, the Lamm, in 1997. Since 2003, non-alcoholic, sparkling compositions have been created in Schlat. Since 2023, the manufactory has been dealcoholizing wines in its own facility using vacuum distillation at low temperatures. The aromas that escape in the process are captured as aromatic water and partially added back in.

The apple and pear juice come from Swabian meadow orchards, meaning from old, often tart varieties from traditional meadows, supplied by local farmers. Added to this is the dealcoholized plum wine, which gives the rosé its dark fruit. From delivery and composition to bottling, all steps take place at the manufactory. That is also where the combination of wine, tea, and fruit that defines the TeaSecco is created.

For whom

This bottle is for everyone who enjoys cooking with vegetables, legumes, and spices and is looking for a non-alcoholic drink with structure to go with it. It suits supper clubs, birthdays, and evenings spent eating and talking for hours. The light counterpart with green tea is the Teasecco.
