Greek salad – The ingredients
- Tomatoes only taste good in season. In winter, you can prepare Greek salad with red bell peppers or choose a Mediterranean tortellini salad or Italian pasta salad with pesto.
- Cucumber can also be used with the peel. However, we recommend organic quality if you do. This keeps your salad free of pesticides.
- Red onions are milder than white ones and work better as coarse rings for Greek salad.
- Garlic tastes more intense if you chop it. When pressed, the aromas dissipate prematurely.
- Olive oil has a distinct fruity note when produced gently and enriches Greek salad with an authentic aroma!
- Freshly squeezed lemon is a mandatory part of the dressing for Greek salad.
- Dried oregano adds a fine herbal note. You can complement the seasoning with tarragon and thyme.
Optional ingredients
- You can supplement the ingredient list with red bell peppers. Pointed peppers generally taste more aromatic than standard bell peppers.
- White wine vinegar adds more acidity and a tart nuance to the salad dressing.
- Greek salad with balsamic vinegar gets a milder note from the sweetish vinegar. Simply add two tablespoons to our basic recipe.
- Something different: Greek salad with yogurt tastes particularly fresh and light. You can replace the olive oil in our recipe with 5 tablespoons of yogurt. Greek yogurt is particularly delicious and creamy, but also contains a fair amount of fat. Normal plain yogurt is also perfect for the salad dressing.
