inge: Ginger from Munich-Giesing
inge was initially an insider tip in Giesing. In a small café-shop on Watzmannstraße, Sascha Elsperger began brewing his ginger syrup; he had developed the recipe through many attempts in his own kitchen. The name is an homage to the main ingredient, ginger (Ingwer), and to their home in Giesing. In 2021, inge celebrated its tenth anniversary. Today, the inge Manufaktur GmbH is based in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn in the district of Munich, while the café-shop in Giesing continues to operate.
Freshly processed, bottled by hand
Ginger and untreated lemons and oranges are delivered fresh and processed on the same day. Each ginger root is hand-selected, and the citrus fruits are zested by hand. Afterward, it is brewed in a kettle with a secret spice blend. Bottling and labeling are done by hand. According to the manufacturer, no artificial flavors, extracts, colorings, or flavor enhancers are used. Whatever remains of the fruit after zesting is either processed or donated to the Munich association "Mammalade für Karla."
Ginger Liqueur: Bavarian Small Batch
The Ginger Liqueur 500ml is refined with bourbon vanilla, fresh rosemary, and oak-aged Gold Artesanal Cachaça. It has a fruity, spicy taste with a fine herbal note and is bottled in limited runs. Depending on the batch, the alcohol content ranges between 17% and 20% vol, averaging around 18% vol. To get to know it, you can try the Ginger Liqueur 40ml in a 4-cl sample bottle. The manufacturer recommends it neat, on ice, as a ginger shot, or in cocktails. Sale only to persons aged 18 and over.
