DR. HÖHL'S is the Höhl family from Maintal-Hochstadt near Frankfurt, who have been processing apples since 1779 according to their own account. Here you will find our BioEss organic apple cider vinegar, both cloudy and clear, REZEPTUR 1779 apple cider vinegar with honey, the non-alcoholic POMP organic aperitifs Fruity and Dry, as well as the POMP Klassik Cuvée made from Riesling sparkling wine and apple wine.

DR. HÖHL'S: Apples from Hochstadt since 1779

In Hochstadt, now a district of Maintal near Frankfurt, the Höhl family claims to have been pressing wine from apples grown in the surrounding meadow orchards as early as 1779. In 1962, the organic apple cider vinegar "bio-ess" was added to the range, and in 2000, Johanna Höhl revived the Frankfurt "Herrschafts-Gespritzter," a blend of sparkling wine and apple wine. Today, Johanna, Johannes, and Anna run the family business DR. HÖHL'S in its ninth generation. According to the manufacturer, one of the largest contiguous meadow orchard areas in Germany is located around Frankfurt. The family maintains meadows there featuring old apple varieties such as the Champagne Reinette, the Yellow Noble Apple, and the Schafsnase.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar: BioEss and REZEPTUR 1779

The BioEss naturally cloudy apple cider vinegar is made from the direct juice of whole organic apples from German meadow orchards, double-fermented and unfiltered, with 5% acidity. The BioEss clear apple cider vinegar is vegan-filtered and the all-rounder for preserving. Things get mildly sweet and sour with the REZEPTUR 1779 apple cider vinegar with honey: 60% unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with mother of vinegar and 40% Bioland honey in an apothecary bottle.

POMP: Non-alcoholic Aperitif and Classic Cuvée

The POMP organic aperitifs 0.0 are sparkling fruit juice cocktails with 21 botanicals and no added sugar. The POMP fruity organic aperitif combines apple, grape, aronia, and elderflower, while the POMP dry organic aperitif focuses on cucumber, orange blossom, and spices, also available as a 0.2l piccolo. According to the manufacturer, both are intended for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and drivers. The POMP Klassik Cuvée is available with alcohol: 65% Riesling sparkling wine and 35% apple wine, 10% vol, for sale to those 16 and older.
