Hamburg Gold Almonds: Roasted Nuts from the Dom
Behind Hamburg Gold Almonds is Mutter Veldkamp GmbH & Co. KG, managed by Tom Veldkamp and Frank Dörksen. According to the manufacturer, the Veldkamp family is one of the oldest showman families in Hamburg. Their history began in 1821 with a confectionery trade in Groningen and spans from a café at the Hamburg Dom to today's manufactory. There, according to the manufacturer, every portion is roasted, filled, and packaged by hand, following recipes passed down from generation to generation.
Roasted Nuts in a Paper Cone
The paper cone varieties consist of exactly two ingredients: organic nuts and organic raw cane sugar. The classic choice is the roasted organic almonds, which have been our top seller for years. The roasted organic cashews are more delicate and buttery, the roasted organic Brazil nuts have a full-bodied roasted aroma, and the roasted peanuts are bold. If you cannot decide, choose the organic nut mix, which includes all four varieties in a 160g bag. According to the manufacturer, the raw ingredients come from all over the world: almonds from Spain among others, cashews from Brazil and Bolivia, Brazil nuts from Brazil and Peru, and peanuts from China. All organic varieties are inspected by the organic control body DE-ÖKO-009.
Spiced Varieties and Gold Almonds in a Jar
The 120g jar includes Mumbai Almonds with ginger and cardamom, as well as roasted cashews with black sesame. The eponymous Hamburg Gold Almonds are roasted almonds with cinnamon, Bourbon vanilla, and edible 22-karat gold leaf. The gold is a tribute to Mother Veldkamp and her gold-threaded cap. Because of the gold, the Gold Almonds are the only variety that is not organic-certified.
