Ölmühle Solling Organic Peanut Butter Powder. Partially defatted, roasted organic peanut powder for mixing, baking, and refining – with a full peanut flavor.

Ölmühle Solling Organic Peanut Butter Powder is a finely ground powder made from partially defatted, roasted organic peanuts. It is produced during the oil pressing process at the Ölmühle Solling in Boffzen on the river Weser. The jar contains 250 g, and the only ingredient is partially defatted organic peanut powder, completely without sugar or salt.

Peanut Butter Powder from Ölmühle Solling is peanut butter in a different state. Classic peanut butter consists of roasted, finely ground peanuts with all of their oil, resulting in a thick, oily cream. For this powder, the mill takes a detour through the oil press. First, the peanuts are pressed, and a large portion of their oil is drained away, leaving behind a solid press cake. The mill briefly roasts this cake at approximately 160 °C and then grinds it finely. The result is a dry, loose powder that you can mix with liquid to make it creamy again as needed. This allows you to decide yourself whether it becomes a thick spread or a liquid sauce. The powder can be measured by the spoonful like flour or cocoa and ends up exactly where you want it.

Taste

According to the manufacturer, the powder has a full, nutty peanut flavor. Due to the roasting process, it tastes warm and slightly roasted, just as you know it from peanut butter. There is no sugar or salt added; the flavor comes solely from the peanut.

When mixed, the cream is firmer and less oily than classic peanut butter because some of the oil has already been pressed out. Anyone expecting the typical oily melt of a peanut butter paste will find the powder too dry. This can be compensated for with a teaspoon of oil or a little milk. For sweet dishes, stir in a pinch of salt and a little honey.

Usage

The manufacturer recommends mixing the powder with water or milk. With a little liquid, it becomes a spreadable paste for bread and pancakes. With more liquid, you get a sauce, for example for an Asian satay or a noodle salad with cucumber and sesame.

Without mixing beforehand, the powder can go directly into smoothies, shakes, porridge, yogurt, and muesli. One tablespoon in a banana smoothie is enough for a distinct peanut flavor. According to the manufacturer, it also goes well in curries, sauces, and baked goods. In cookies, brownies, or muffins, it provides a bold peanut taste. For energy balls, mix it with dates, oatmeal, and a little cocoa. A spoonful of powder also works well sprinkled over a fruit salad with apples and bananas.

Our tip: Mix three tablespoons of powder with coconut milk, lime juice, soy sauce, and a little chili. The sauce goes well with grilled chicken, tofu, or rice noodles.

Origin

The powder is a byproduct of peanut oil production in Boffzen. Pressing is done on spindle presses, according to the manufacturer usually at 35 to 40 °C. The press cake is then briefly roasted and finely ground. Two products are thus created from one raw material: the oil and this powder. The heat in the spindle presses is generated solely by friction; according to the mill, there is no additional heating.

According to the organic logo, the peanuts come from non-EU agriculture, and the inspection body is DE-ÖKO-039. The Ölmühle Solling range includes twelve proteins and powders, according to their fact sheet. The mill was founded in 1996 and has worked with the Naturland association from the very beginning.

For whom

The powder is for everyone who likes the taste of peanuts in muesli, smoothies, and baked goods and enjoys being able to decide how creamy it should be. It contains peanuts. A spoonful also adds peanut flavor to a post-workout shake. Store the jar in a cool, dark place and close it tightly after use to prevent moisture from getting in. For baking, the partially defatted almond flour is a good match, and for sweetening, the coconut blossom sugar. You can find everything else on our page about Ölmühle Solling. The powder is not suitable for those with a peanut allergy.

Kalt gepresst, in kleinen Chargen
