TAIGA Naturkost "kunterbunt" Organic Nut Mix 225g. Nut-fruit blend of cashews, Siberian cedar nuts, goji berries, pecans, almonds, and sour cherries – raw, organic, 225 g.
TAIGA Naturkost "kunterbunt" Organic Nut Mix 225g is a nut-fruit blend containing 28 percent cashew kernels, 15 percent each of Siberian cedar nuts and goji berries, pecans, almonds, and sour cherries. Everything is organic, vegan, produced in raw food quality according to the manufacturer, and blended in the Palatinate region. The sweetness comes from the fruit – no sugar, no honey, no added flavorings. 225 g in a stand-up pouch.
"kunterbunt" Nut Mix by TAIGA Naturkost is the classic trail mix concept, fully realized: instead of peanuts and raisins, this blend features whole cashew kernels, pecans, almonds, and Siberian cedar nuts, plus goji berries and sour cherries. The cedar nuts are the seeds of the Siberian cedar, a stone pine, and the product that TAIGA has been working with since 2004. According to the manufacturer, all ingredients are of raw food quality, meaning they have been heated to no more than 45 degrees Celsius during processing, and they are blended and packaged in their own facility in the Palatinate. The play on words in the German name (GeNuss – a combination of "nut" and "enjoyment") says it all: nuts and pleasure in one bag.
Taste
The mix thrives on the interplay between crunchy and fruity. Cashews are mild and slightly sweet, pecans are buttery with a hint of bitterness, and almonds are firm and nutty. The cedar nuts are the softest in the bag: small, light, with a resinous note reminiscent of pine nuts, only sweeter and milder. Goji berries add a subtle, slightly tart sweetness, while the sour cherries provide a clear acidity that keeps the palate fresh.
Because the nuts are unroasted and unsalted, the mix has a subtler flavor than roasted snack mixes – but in return, you can taste each individual nut. Anyone expecting a salty, roasted snack to go with a beer will likely find the Nut Mix too mild.
Usage
Most often, the mix is eaten as a snack straight from the hand: at the office, while hiking, in the car, or in a lunchbox. A handful is enough for a quick snack. The manufacturer also recommends it in muesli, in yogurt – including plant-based alternatives – and as a topping for a smoothie bowl.
In the kitchen, the mix can be used in many ways: coarsely chopped over a leafy salad with goat cheese, stirred into granola, or baked into banana bread or oat cookies. Sour cherries and pecans also pair well in a wild rice salad. Store the bag in a cool, dark, and dry place; seal airtight after opening and use within three months according to the manufacturer.
Our tip: Sprinkle the mix as a topping on a bowl of Mascha's Kascha with plant-based milk. The base mix is intentionally pure, and the Nut Mix adds nuttiness, fruit, and acidity – a breakfast from two bags by the same producer.
Origin
The Nut Mix is blended and packaged in Harthausen in the Palatinate, where TAIGA Naturkost has consolidated its production, warehouse, and factory outlet under one roof since 2024. The administration is located in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The brand is run by the Sojnikow family: in 1999, Russian composer Alexander Sojnikow founded a publishing house after emigrating to the Palatinate; in 2004, organic certification and the cedar nut project in the Altai mountains were added, followed by the TAIGA Naturkost brand in 2010. His son, Jaroslaw Sojnikow, now leads the company as the second generation.
According to the manufacturer, the cedar nuts in the mix come from certified organic wild collection in the Altai Mountains, where the cones are picked by hand and the kernels are shelled and vacuum-packed on-site. TAIGA sources cashews, pecans, almonds, goji berries, and sour cherries from controlled organic farming; the company states that it sensorially inspects the dried fruits and nuts before they are added to the blend. The stand-up pouch is reportedly bisphenol A-free and made from vegan materials.
For whom
The Nut Mix is for anyone who wants a snack without sugar and salt that still has plenty of flavor – for the office, a hike, or the glove compartment in the car. The bag also works well as a small gift. If you prefer something more chocolatey, try the "Taiga" Supermix with cocoa beans and physalis; if you want just the berry, try the pure goji berries. You can find all products from the manufacturer on the TAIGA Naturkost page, and more mixes in our Nuts, Kernels & Co. category.
Note: The mix contains cashew kernels, pecans, almonds, and cedar nuts, i.e., tree nuts, and may contain traces of Brazil nuts and macadamia nuts, as well as occasional shell and stone fragments. It is not suitable for those with nut allergies.
