Dr. Jaglas Hibiscus Spritz. Non-alcoholic spritz made from tart hibiscus and dealcoholized sparkling Riesling – ready-mixed in a 750 ml bottle.
Dr. Jaglas Hibiscus Spritz is a ready-to-drink non-alcoholic aperitif from Berlin: half dealcoholized sparkling Riesling from the VDP winery Leitz in the Rheingau, combined with hibiscus flower infusion, orange juice, sugar, natural flavors, and carbonation, 0.0% vol, 750 ml. No measuring tonic, no crushing ice, no checking recipes – open, pour, enjoy.
Hibiscus Spritz by Dr. Jaglas solves the problem that every aperitif evening with guests faces: someone is stuck in the kitchen, mixing and measuring, searching for a lime, while the others are already seated. This bottle makes that unnecessary. The Tart Hibiscus, the best-selling bottle from the Berlin manufacturer in our shop, is here already married with a fine-bubbled, dealcoholized Riesling sparkling wine – chilled into a wine glass, and the evening begins for everyone at the same time.
Tart like the hibiscus, fresh like a Riesling, quieter than both
The Hibiscus Spritz tastes first of hibiscus blossom, tart and floral, then the acidity of the Riesling follows, making the drink lean. The carbonation is fine, the sweetness is restrained – 7.4 grams of sugar per 100 milliliters, less than in most lemonades. A hint of orange lingers in the finish, along with the bitterness contributed by a tonic aroma in the recipe.
The color is a light, clear red, lighter than the pure hibiscus because the sparkling wine makes up half of the bottle. The taste comes from flower infusion and natural flavors; this is typical for a ready-mixed spritz and is stated on the label. If you prefer your drink stronger and want to mix it yourself, use the Tart Hibiscus in the 500 ml bottle and mix it with tonic – the Spritz is the light, ready-to-serve version of it.
Ice-cold into a wine glass, nothing else needed
The bottle comes straight from the fridge into a wine glass, no ice, no ingredients needed. If you like, add a slice of orange or a few raspberries; the drink can barely handle more before the blossom is overshadowed. 750 ml is four to five glasses – an aperitif for a group sitting on the balcony on a Friday evening.
It pairs well with the same things as the regular Hibiscus: goat cheese, dark chocolate, figs, nuts, a platter with salami and olives. As a sundowner after a barbecue, when half the guests are leaving, it is the bottle that everyone can drink. And those who prefer the citrusy side will find its yellow counterpart in the San Limello Spritz from the same line.
Our tip: Once opened, the spritz loses carbonation like any sparkling wine – finish the bottle the same evening or keep it in the fridge with a sparkling wine stopper until the next day.
Berlin herbalism meets Rheingau Riesling
Dr. Jaglas is a Berlin manufactory located at Choriner Straße 40, originating from a family of pharmacists who have been using monastery recipes, classic compendiums, and herbalism for decades to create high-proof and non-alcoholic herbal specialties. The Tart Hibiscus is their non-alcoholic aperitif with hibiscus blossom, elderberry, and a smoky finish – and it is the base for this Spritz.
The second part comes from the Rheingau: dealcoholized Sparkling Riesling from the VDP winery Leitz, a winery known for non-alcoholic wine and sparkling wine. In winemaker Johannes Leitz, Christina Jagla found a partner for exactly this part of the bottle. Both combined create a spritz where the blossom and the Riesling stand on equal footing in the glass.
The aperitif for hosts who want to sit at the table themselves
The Hibiscus Spritz is the bottle for everyone who has guests and wants to join in the drinking instead of mixing: for barbecues, garden parties, or a reception before a birthday dinner. As a gift, it is the perfect offering for people who live alcohol-free but still want to have a glass for toasting – an aperitif that tastes like something and comes from the same manufactory as the elixirs on our Dr. Jaglas page.
The Spritz is not suitable for those who expect a strong, sweet drink – it is light, tart, and dry, closer to a Riesling than to a lemonade.
