Jörg Geiger Prisecco Organic Spring Scent non-alcoholic. Seasonal organic PriSecco made from seedling apple and strawberry with elderflower – lean, sparkling, vegan.
Jörg Geiger Prisecco Organic Spring Scent is the organic edition of the spring PriSecco from Schlat in the Swabian Alb: 70% apple juice from Swabian meadow orchard fruit, strawberry and blueberry juice, woodruff, elderflower, and spices. It has 0.0% vol, 750 ml, and is EU organic certified and vegan. Not a Prosecco, not a sparkling wine – a sparkling seasonal aperitif with strawberry.
PriSecco Organic Spring Scent by Jörg Geiger belongs to the PriSecco brand, a non-alcoholic, sparkling composition based on fruit juices from Swabian meadow orchard fruit, with herbs, flowers, spices, and added carbonation. The organic version has its own foundation: a late-ripening, acidic seedling apple from old meadow orchard varieties. Rhubarb is missing from the list of ingredients; the acidity comes solely from the apple. The producer describes the strawberry notes accordingly as lean and intense. Because the strawberry is bottled unpreserved, the producer recommends enjoying it within 6 months.
Taste: lean strawberry, fresh apple acidity, freshly picked elderflower
The nose reveals a lush strawberry scent, paired with fresh notes of apple. Subtle herbaceous hints are reminiscent of woodruff, and the finish smells of freshly picked elderflowers.
On the palate, the organic Spring Scent is lean and clearly defined. The strawberry is intense, yet appears taut rather than broad. Floral tones of elderflower lie over it, and the fresh acidity of the seedling apple keeps the glass lively. According to the producer, it contains 7.9 g of sugar per 100 ml, less than the conventional version with rhubarb. The sweetness comes entirely from the juices.
Those who already know the Spring Scent will notice the difference with the second sip: here, the strawberry stands lean and taut in the front, whereas in the other, it is lush and broad.
Usage: as an aperitif, with strawberries, and with desserts featuring rhubarb
Jörg Geiger recommends the organic Spring Scent solo as an aperitif, with fresh strawberries, or as a companion to desserts with rhubarb. Its lean style makes it a partner for desserts that are already sweet themselves: rhubarb crumble, strawberry tiramisu, or yogurt with rhubarb compote. At brunch, it sits alongside fruit salad and fresh brioche, in the afternoon next to the first strawberry cake of the season.
The serving temperature is 8 to 10 °C; the appropriate glass is a champagne flute. Place the bottle in the refrigerator a few hours beforehand and open it only shortly before toasting.
Our tip: Freeze a few small strawberries the day before and put them in the glass instead of ice cubes. They cool the drink, keep the flavor undiluted, and can be eaten at the end.
Origin: seedling apple from the meadow orchard, organic from Schlat
The Jörg Geiger manufactory is located in Schlat at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Jörg Geiger is a trained chef and took over his parents' inn, Lamm, in 1997 at the age of 22. In 2003, he bottled the first PriSecco; today, seasonal editions like the Spring Scent complement the classics.
The raw material is "Swabian meadow orchard fruit": old, often tart apple and pear varieties from local meadow orchards, supplied by local farmers. For the organic edition, the manufactory uses a late-ripening seedling apple. Strawberry and blueberry juice, woodruff, elderflower, and spices come from certified organic farming (DE-ÖKO-006). According to the producer, all meadow orchard areas are managed in an organic-compliant manner; only fruits from certified areas go into the organic products. All steps from delivery to bottling take place in the manufactory.
For whom: organic households, vegan tables, and brunch guests in spring
The organic Spring Scent is the bottle for everyone who looks for organic and vegan when toasting and prefers it fresh rather than lush. The Easter brunch, a picnic in May, a birthday with children at the table – a glass for all generations. Those who want more fullness and rhubarb in their glass should reach for the PriSecco Spring Scent. All editions are on our Jörg Geiger page. The organic Spring Scent is not suitable for those who want to store it in the cellar for a long time – it belongs in the first six months.
