Jörg Geiger PriSecco Rosenzauber non-alcoholic. Rosé-PriSecco made from Boskoop apple, rose petals, and chocolate mint – spicy and oriental.
Jörg Geiger PriSecco Rosenzauber non-alcoholic is a classic from the PriSecco brand based in Schlat at the Swabian Alb: Apple juice from Swabian meadow fruit with rhubarb, raspberry, and blackberry juice, rose water, mint, and spices, 0.0% vol, 750 ml. Not a sparkling wine, not a rosé wine – a sparkling dining companion with oriental spice.
PriSecco Rosenzauber by Jörg Geiger is one of the four classic products of the PriSecco brand. This is what the artisanal manufacturer calls its non-alcoholic, sparkling compositions based on fruit juices from Swabian meadow fruit, refined with herbs, blossoms, and spices and carbonated. A PriSecco is therefore juice that sparkles like a sparkling wine – with 0.0% alcohol. With Rosenzauber, the Boskoop apple provides the foundation – an heirloom apple with bold acidity. Added to this are rose petals and a mint that smells like chocolate. It sounds whimsical, but it tastes surprisingly serious: like rose, berry, and a spice that brings to mind a bazaar. Rosenzauber is thus a PriSecco that belongs more at the dining table than at a cocktail party.
Taste
On the nose, it first reveals a delicate rose scent, accompanied by raspberry, chocolate mint, and spicy-oriental notes. With every moment in the glass, more aromas open up; the bouquet becomes more complex the longer you wait.
On the palate, Rosenzauber begins with a fine, slightly sweet raspberry note. Then the refreshing acidity of the Boskoop apple takes over, the middle section becomes spicy, and the finish is long. The chocolate mint has a high menthol content and provides the freshness that keeps the glass vibrant despite the blossom and fruit. Since the current recipe, rhubarb juice has also been included, which sharpens the acidity a little more.
Usage
Jörg Geiger designs Rosenzauber with food in mind. His recommendations: Tabbouleh with mint, lamb with couscous and raisins, chocolate raspberry tartlets. The mint in the salad meets the mint in the glass, the rose and spice pair with the lamb and raisins, and the tartlet sees chocolate and raspberry on both sides.
The serving temperature is 8 to 10 °C, served in a sparkling wine glass. For a multi-course meal, you can keep the bottle flowing from the tabbouleh to the dessert – the spice keeps up. It also works as an aperitif, best served with a few dates or salted pistachios on the side.
Our tip: When serving lamb with couscous, sprinkle a few chopped fresh mint leaves over the plate. This connects the plate to the glass, and the chocolate mint in the Rosenzauber stands out more clearly.
Origin
The Jörg Geiger manufacturer is located in Schlat on the edge of the Swabian Alb. Jörg Geiger is a trained chef; he took over his parents' inn, the "Lamm," in 1997 and bottled his first PriSecco in 2003. The raw material is Swabian meadow fruit: heirloom, often tart apple and pear varieties from local orchards, supplied by farmers from the surrounding area. For Rosenzauber, the manufacturer relies on the Boskoop, whose acidity balances the sweetness of the berries.
The rose petals come from the Sonnenhof in Bad Boll, complemented by organic rose water – only 0.2 percent rose water in the recipe, yet the blossom characterizes the glass. All steps from the delivery of the fruit through processing and composition to bottling take place at the facility. According to the manufacturer, the drinks are created guaranteed without chemical additives such as dyes, flavor enhancers, or stabilizers.
For whom
Rosenzauber is the bottle for people who like to use spices when cooking and are looking for a non-alcoholic glass that can keep up. It is suitable for dinner with friends when lamb or couscous is served, and for coffee and cake with chocolate cake.
Those who prefer their rose in organic quality with vanilla and mace instead of chocolate mint should reach for the Organic Rose. For a light, herbaceous-spicy aperitif, there is PriSecco Weißduftig; you can find all bottles on our Jörg Geiger page. Rosenzauber is not suitable for those who generally avoid the scent of roses in their glass – the rose is distinctly noticeable.
