van Nahmen White Peach Nectar. Fruit nectar from white peaches from Emilia-Romagna – velvety, sweet, and long-lasting on the finish.
van Nahmen White Peach Nectar is a fruit nectar made from white peach purée, blended with water and sugar, with a minimum fruit content of 50%. The peaches are grown in Emilia-Romagna, and they are pressed at the van Nahmen fruit press in Hamminkeln on the Lower Rhine. The bottle contains 0.75 l.
White Peach Nectar by van Nahmen is a nectar, and for good reason. Peaches have a high pulp content. van Nahmen generally mixes such fruit with water and sugar to create nectar, rather than bottling it pure. This turns the purée into a ready-to-drink beverage that nonetheless remains dense and velvety. According to the manufacturer, the fruit content is at least 50 percent. Only white peaches are used, which are considered particularly aromatic and full-bodied. A summer evening on the balcony, a piece of cheesecake on your plate: a glass of this nectar is the perfect companion.
Taste
The White Peach Nectar tastes sweet, aromatic, and luscious. The manufacturer describes an intense peach aroma and a full-bodied texture. The velvety quality is striking: the nectar has a higher viscosity and coats the tongue softly.
The aroma lingers for a long time; even after swallowing, the peach note remains present. Because sugar has been added, it is significantly sweeter than a direct juice. If you are expecting a tart, acidic juice, this is not the right choice for you. If you love ripe peaches, you will find their flavor here in liquid form, with the intense aroma of the white fruit.
Usage
You should drink this nectar at 12 to 14 °C (54–57 °F), i.e., slightly chilled. According to the tasting notes, it pairs well on its own with fruit desserts, cheesecake, and white chocolate. Its sweetness and velvety texture make it a perfect accompaniment to dessert.
Cheesecake with a shortcrust base, berry tiramisu, or panna cotta with fresh peach slices are excellent partners. When paired with white chocolate, it picks up on the creamy sweetness. It also makes a great addition to a Sunday breakfast with croissants, yogurt, and fresh fruit. For a lighter version, mix it 1:1 with sparkling water. This turns it into a fizzy summer drink for the whole family.
Once opened, the bottle should be stored in the refrigerator. According to the manufacturer, you should finish it within five days.
Our tip: Fill a tall glass halfway with nectar, add ice cubes and cold sparkling water, and place a sprig of mint on top. Your peach spritzer for the garden is ready.
Origin
The peaches for this nectar come from Italy. They are grown by farmers in Emilia-Romagna, where they ripen in the sun. The region is located in northern Italy, between the Po River and the Adriatic Sea, surrounding Bologna, and is famous for its fruit growing. The fruit is picked by hand, in at least five passes according to the manufacturer. This ensures that only fully ripe fruit ends up in the basket, while the rest remains on the tree until the next pass.
The purée is processed in Hamminkeln on the Lower Rhine. The van Nahmen fruit press processes local fruit itself, while sourcing individual fruits like these peaches from other regions. The company has been family-owned since 1917. The nectar is preserved through short-time pasteurization; unopened, it keeps for at least two years. According to the manufacturer, it is vegan and contains no colorants or preservatives.
For whom
This nectar is for everyone who wants to bring the scent of ripe peaches into their glass. It is perfect for coffee time, Sunday breakfast, dessert, and as a spritzer on hot days. The bottle is also a lovely gift idea for those with a sweet tooth. The Orange de Provence apricot variety is used to make the Apricot Nectar. For something more tart, try the Raspberry Rhubarb Nectar. You can find all nectars and juices on our van Nahmen page. It is not suitable for those who wish to avoid added sugar – in that case, it is better to opt for a direct juice.
