The Kreiselmeyer family is firmly rooted in the Frankenhöhe Nature Park. They have been farming for five generations. For the past three years, the farm has specialized in the production of edible oils. In doing so, the Kreiselmeyer farm manufactory brings the best quality from the field to the table.
Conversation with Tobias Kreiselmeyer
Mr. Kreiselmeyer, what does blue poppy seed oil taste like?
Like a poppy seed pastry from the bakery! The aroma is intense and unusually sweet for an edible oil. Blue poppy seed oil is not only suitable for green leaf salads, but also goes very well with sweet dishes. Instead of cream, you can round off desserts with blue poppy seed oil—it tastes incredibly delicious.
Is there a typical regional edible oil for Franconia?
Flax was grown in Franconia until 1950. Linseed oil was also traditionally produced in our region and was mainly eaten with potatoes and quark—a simple, but unbeatable dish. We would like to revive this old tradition with our products.
What sets your oils apart?
We grow our own seeds—everything comes from a single source, from the field to the bottle. The seeds are processed by variety, gently cold-pressed, and bottled unfiltered. This creates oils with real character and intense varietal typicality. We offer walnut, linseed, mustard, blue poppy seed, sunflower, and safflower oil—all from our own cultivation.
What does the connection to the Franconian landscape mean to you?
We live here. Our family has been connected to this land for five generations—that shapes our relationship with nature. We cultivate our fields in harmony with the seasonal rhythms and try to give more back to the landscape than we take.
