A special taste is being created in the Black Forest near Freiburg. apros Vermouth carefully and lovingly crafts a vermouth with a Mediterranean touch. The company's own wines from the Kaiserstuhl region form the basis for this finely balanced spirit.
A conversation with Achim Berger from apros
Achim, why is vermouth a must-have for a home bar?
Vermouth is a wonderful complement to spirits such as gin, vodka, whiskey, or rum. It can be enjoyed classically neat over ice as an aperitif, as a long drink with tonic water, or as a spritz with sparkling wine. Its versatility makes it the base for legendary cocktails like the Manhattan or Negroni. At 18% alcohol by volume, our apros Vermouth is light and perfect for uncomplicated enjoyment.
What sets apros apart?
We use our own estate wines from the Kaiserstuhl as a base. These wines have a unique character of their own—and that gives our vermouth a very special depth. This is combined with a carefully composed blend of wormwood and other Mediterranean botanicals.
What distinguishes your vermouth from industrial varieties?
As a small artisan producer, we can invest a lot of time in every single batch. Long maceration times for the botanicals, careful filtration, high-quality base wines—you can taste the difference. Industrial vermouths are often very standardized; with us, every batch has its own little character.
