Interview with Thomas Kohl about unique Kohl apple juice

Hello Thomas, it’s great that you’ve taken the time to talk about Kohl apple juice today. Your company has certainly attracted a lot of attention in recent years. Could you tell us briefly how it all started?

Thomas Kohl: Of course, Stephan. It all began in the South Tyrolean Alps, where our family has been growing apples for generations. However, I wanted to do more than just sell apples and looked for ways to highlight their uniqueness. That’s how the idea came about to produce a high-quality juice from them – Kohl apple juice.

South Tyrol is well-known for its excellent apples. How would you say your juice differs from others on the market?

Thomas Kohl: Our juice is something truly special because we exclusively use apples from high-altitude orchards. These extreme conditions in which the apples grow give them a more intense flavor. We press them gently, thereby capturing the unique aroma of these mountain apple varieties. That is the core of our Kohl apple juice.

Wow, that sounds fascinating! Can you give us an insight into the production process?

Thomas Kohl: With pleasure. After the harvest, the apples are immediately transported to our press house. We attach great importance to processing them fresh to maximize quality. They are first washed, then pressed. The fresh juice is then cold-bottled to preserve its freshness and aromas.

Sustainability is an important topic. How does Kohl apple juice approach this?

Thomas Kohl: Sustainability is truly a priority for us. Not only do we practice environmentally friendly fruit farming, but our entire production chain is designed to be carbon-neutral. We also utilize natural gravity in our processes and rely on solar energy.

Impressive! Are there different varieties of Kohl apple juice?

Thomas Kohl: We definitely have various varieties. Every apple brings its own aroma to the table. We have varieties in our range such as the acidic Rougeh or the sweet Pinova. Furthermore, we experiment with combinations and also offer juices with the addition of ingredients like pears or currants.

And what about the packaging? What makes it special?

Thomas Kohl: We focus on elegant and functional design so that Kohl apple juice stands out not only in terms of taste, but also visually. Our glass bottles are clear ambassadors of our brand values, and we use natural and ecologically sound materials wherever possible.

Let’s talk about the future. What are your plans for Kohl apple juice?

Thomas Kohl: We want to expand our presence in international markets and introduce new product lines. Another important point is research – we want to further advance biodynamic agriculture and increase the biodiversity of our orchards.

That sounds like an exciting future. Before we conclude, a personal question: What is your favorite Kohl apple juice product – and why?

Thomas Kohl: That is a difficult question, because I love all our juices. However, if I had to choose, I would pick the new mountain apple juice "Sonnenglanz," simply because of its intense fruitiness and the return of yellow-fleshed apple varieties, which have recently been less popular in conventional fruit growing.

Thank you, Thomas, for the interesting conversation and the insights into the world of Kohl apple juice. I wish you continued success and am curious to see in which directions your juice will develop further.

Thomas Kohl: Thank you, Stephan. It was a pleasure to talk about our passion, and I hope that many more people will enjoy the unique taste of Kohl apple juice!
